Maxicare

Health insurancePhilippines

Maxicare is a Philippine health maintenance organisation covering 1.8 million members through more than 1,300 hospitals and clinics.

Overview

Maxicare is a health maintenance organisation (HMO) in the Philippines that provides corporate health plans for employers, covering staff for outpatient consultations, laboratory tests, emergency care and hospitalisation. An HMO works like prepaid health insurance: members use Maxicare's accredited network rather than paying and claiming back. Maxicare was founded in 1987.

Maxicare reports 1.8 million members and a network of more than 1,300 hospitals and clinics, over 20,000 affiliated doctors and specialists, and over 700 dental clinics. Maxicare also runs 18 of its own Primary Care Clinics. Employers can choose a full HMO programme or unbundled inpatient and outpatient options, including co-pay plans.
