The exact vendors employees can spend their allowances on will depend on whether you have chosen a specific category - like Learning & Development, Transportation, or Health & Wellbeing - for the allowance. But, in general, you can offer budgets for anything that’s a business expense or an employee benefit.
If you decide to offer a category-specific allowance, all transactions outside of that category will fail - keeping every purchase on policy. Kota maps benefit categories to Stripe’s list of Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) - that is, numbers used to classify businesses based on the goods or services they provide. This is the same Stripe approvals engine that powers 275 million virtual cards, so you’re in good hands.
